A large quantity of machinery required for development projects was brought to the Maldives today.
At a ceremony held in Thilafushi, 230 pieces of machinery brought from China’s XCMG were handed over to the Ministry of Finance and RDC, which is carrying out numerous projects in the islands.
According to the road construction company, this is the first time in the history of infrastructure development that such a large number of vehicles and machinery have been brought to the Maldives at once. Included among them are equipment required for asphalt paving on roads, excavators, and ground-leveling machines.
The work to acquire these machines began under an agreement signed between Infrastructure Development Solution (IDS), established in May last year, and RDC. IDS signed the agreement with the strongest company manufacturing such items in China.
At the ceremony held today in Thilafushi, RDC Managing Director Ibrahim Nazim stated that the company is currently working under very difficult conditions. However, he said the newly brought machines would provide an effective solution for their operations.
Nazim stated that among the benefits, the speed of work will increase, and projects can be finished sooner than their required deadlines.
IDS has decided to establish a repair facility and a spare parts center in the Maldives in collaboration with the Chinese company to maintain these machines. It was stated that because of this, even if a problem occurs with a piece of machinery, a quick solution can be found without waiting to bring items from abroad, allowing projects to proceed without interruption.
