Ameez Hassan, the Vice President of the MDP for the GA. Vilingili constituency, was temporarily suspended from party activities today for campaigning against the party's candidates in Vilingili.

In a statement released by the opposition MDP, it noted that an investigation is underway regarding the issue of Ameez working against the candidates contesting from MDP in the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections to be held this coming Saturday.

Therefore, it stated that the disciplinary committee decided to temporarily suspend Ameez from his MDP position, responsibilities, and activities until a specific decision is reached on the matter.

The case was submitted to the committee by the President of the Vilingili constituency, Hussain Hassan. The decision was made by the majority of the two members present at the meeting.

It is understood that Ameez is campaigning for independent candidates. Although remaining as an MDP member, the former Member of Parliament for the Vilingili constituency, Saud Hussain, is leading the effort to field these candidates.
