RTL Ferry services have been launched in Laamu atoll today. 

In a ceremony held in L. Fonadhoo yesterday, the service was officially inaugurated by Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim. 

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said that the service would be provided free of charge from today until next Tuesday so as to familiarize residents with the service. 

Tickets will be sold for transfers from Wednesday onwards. Customers can purchase tickets through the RTL website and mobile application. 

RTL ferry services have already been launched in Faafu, Dhaalu, and Thaa atolls in Zone 4. With services launched in Laamu today, RTL ferry services are now available in 15 atolls, the ministry said. 

The ministry said that the service is a key initiative of the government to connect all islands of Maldives through a robust transport system. 

RTL ferry services, operated by MTCC, will see all atolls of Maldives connected in 6 separate zones. 

The ministry said that with the service launched in Laamu, residents of the atoll can now easily travel between islands in the atoll at affordable prices to seek essential services and for other purposes.
