The government announced last night that Dr Ibrahim Yasir, who was serving as CEO of Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) has been transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital as Deputy CEO.
With this change, Dr Yasir is now also the Deputy CEO of Male' City Group of Hospitals (MCGH).
MCGH operates Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Dharumavantha Hospital, Vilimale' Hospital, and Hulhumale' Hospital.
Dr Yasir, an Internal Medicine specialist, had been serving as CEO of AEH since March 4, 2024. With his transfer to Dharumavantha Hospital, former State Minister at Education Ministry Dr Adheel Naseer has been appointed as CEO of AEH.
Adheel has previously served as Principal of Sharafuddeen School for several years. He was appointed as State Minister in January 2024.
He later announced that he would be contesting in the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) primaries for the Addu mayoral ticket. However, he later withdrew his name.
Adheel, who holds a PhD in the education field, ran in the 2023 presidential elections as the running mate of Maldives National Party (MNP) candidate Mohamed Nazim. Earlier, in 2019, he contested as an independent candidate for the South Hithadhoo seat in the parliamentary elections.
