Criminal Court has again found Mohamed Samah guilty over the fatal stabbing of a police officer in Kaafu Kaashidhoo 14 years ago, following a retrial ordered by the Supreme Court.

Samah, from Kaashidhoo Suvaasaage, had previously been convicted and sentenced to death in 2012 for the July 2012 killing of Sergeant Adam Haleem, from Kaashidhoo, Kethi.

Supreme Court last year quashed the death sentence and ordered a retrial, ruling that Samah’s confession alone was insufficient to establish guilt.

After re-examining the case, the Criminal Court found Samah guilty of manslaughter. The court said sentencing will be delivered on Thursday.
