The primary campaign slogan of Ashiyath Alaika Adudhaan, who is running for the presidency of the Male' Women's Development Committee on the PNC ticket in the Women's Development Committee elections scheduled for this Saturday, was launched last night under the title "Building a Cohesive Family."

The slogan was introduced by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed during a ceremony that took place in Hulhumale'.

While speaking at the event, Alaika emphasized that for a nation to thrive, the advancement of both its communities and families is crucial. She highlighted that progress should be realized in the communities of every island.

Alaika also mentioned that her top priority in bringing her vision of a "Cohesive Family" to life would be to create suitable living environments.

"The families of Male' City are not just enduring congestion. This is a situation where they have to be confined in tiny boxes that do not fit human dignity," she said.

To bring a solution to this, Alaika has decided that if she wins the position of President of the Male' Women's Committee, she will build "Aaila Maizan" in all areas of Male'. Along with that, she stated that existing such places would be kept clean and maintained.

"And at the same time, we are determined to work with our Mayoral candidate (Moosa Ali Jaleel) to change the arrangement of the streets, making them places where the public can walk with ease and making them safe. God willing, we will do this," Alaika said.

Another aim of her "Building a Cohesive Family" slogan is to create a compassionate and caring family. To achieve this, Alaika wants to establish an "Old Care Facility."

"In these centers, we will, God willing, establish a system where the well-being of those suffering from chronic major illnesses and persons with special needs can be regularly monitored," Alaika said.

She stated that to provide ease for working parents, "Child Care" and "After School" programs would be conducted in collaboration with relevant ministries.

"I want to note that today, this government is one that allows space for such ideas and strongly encourages these things. Therefore, this opportunity has been opened wide for us today," Alaika said.

The final part of her vision is to engage in activities that increase self-sufficiency.

While creating women's cooperatives is a very important promise of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Alaika stated that the Male' Women's Development Committee would prioritize marketing the products of Maldivian artists and creating and marketing items from recycled materials.

"...And in order to facilitate ways for women to earn an income while staying at home, we are aiming to establish reward-working platforms and to provide women access to those platforms. We will also arrange ways for youth and the elderly to access these platforms," she said while revealing her vision.
