Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has issued a notice to cease operations of a laundromat located in a flat in Vinares Tower, Hulhumale' Phase 2.
According to a video shared on X by the account Housing Greater Male', the industrial-standard laundry is operating in flat 8A-206, which was allocated under the social housing category.
The flat contains numerous washing machines, dryers and ironing machines.
HDC said it is investigating the laundry operation and has issued a notice to stop it, citing regulations that prohibit industrial activities in residential areas.
Such businesses are permitted only in the eastern and southern zones of Hulhumale'.
The video also shows a large number of gas cylinders used to operate the machines, with public elevators reportedly being used to transport laundry items.
