Leader of the Jumhooree Party Ibrahim Gasim stated last night that the Presidents who have taken office up until now have not acted in accordance to the pledges made to the public while campaigning to be President, but the President who exhibits this behavior the least is President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
While speaking on a PSM program, Gasim said that all who campaign to be President speak about the same subject matters and that their tune changes once they take office.
"Once they are in power, their tune changes completely. This is the truth. President Muizzu has exhibited this behavior the least," said Gasim.
While praising the current President, Gasim said that he has not seen a President who has worked in a more sincere and truthful manner.
"I have never seen a more honest and truthful President who treats people with sincerity and humanity," as was said by Gasim.
"I have no words for his efforts in visiting other islands and making good on pledges in such a difficult and debt-ridden time. I am simply in awe."
According to Gasim, Maldives is beyond saving due to debt. However, he highlighted the work that has been done to save Maldives from that debt.
Gasim said that security is needed for the nation while the country is in such a state, in a time of war in the Middle East and when the prices of fuel and food are rising across the world.
Development can only be brought about by voting for PSM
As Gasim had stated last night, the development of islands, specifically the cities, can only be done by electing PNC's candidates in the upcoming Local Council Election.
Even if that vote is not cast, as the Parliament currently has a ruling PNC super majority, the only thing that will happen is a breakdown in communication between the councils and government heads, said Gasim.
"The cities will only develop for the next three years if ruling PNC members, even as Presidents, are elected as the majority. What will happen if we put them aside? Will the government want to do anything for them? Can they be ousted from office? That will not happen either," as Gasim had stated.
"They do not have a majority in Parliament."

Gasim went on to say that if those who are elected to councils have a difference of opinion from the government, it will open a path to halting development. He also said that this should be thought about deeply as there is still more than two years left in the current government term.
"When you strike someone across the face, how could they remain unaffected? Even if they don't show it or make an issue of it, their hearts won't be at ease. If they are human, they will feel the hurt and carry it within them. It will leave a dark mark," said Gasim while speaking on what may happen depending on how the upcoming Local Council Election being held on 4th April goes.
Gasim stated that the best thing for Male' would be to support the government in the upcoming Local Council Election.
"I am saying that PNC members should be elected. Aside from Maamigili, my party and the council have decided to not have any of our party members run for the other constituencies. Our support lies with PNC," said Gasim.
Gasim also stated that wisdom should be prioritized when decisions are made and that a "peaceful life" can only be brought about by supporting the government.
