A total of 74 cases of child abuse were reported last month, according to the Ministry of Family Development.
Statistics released on Wednesday show that child neglect was the most commonly reported form of abuse, with 21 cases including 12 involving boys and nine involving girls.
Other reported cases include:
- 13 cases of sexual abuse
- 12 cases of physical assault
- 11 cases of psychological harm
- 9 cases of children witnessing domestic violence
- 2 cases of verbal abuse
- 1 case of child pornography
- 1 case of intimidation or blackmail
- 1 case of bullying
- 1 case of sexual grooming
- 1 case of other abuse
The ministry also recorded 18 cases related to child behavioral issues, most commonly involving refusal to attend school.
In addition, 33 family related cases were reported, with child care concerns among the most frequent.

- 21 cases related to care and assistance
- 8 cases linked to social assistance and healthcare
- As of the 28th of last month, 152 children were in state custody.
The ministry’s helpline received 1,802 calls during the period, while counselling services were provided to 82 individuals and psychosocial support to 57 people.
