With the arrival of an additional shipment of cooking gas, Maldive Gas has resumed the sale of 10kg gas cylinders today.
STO stated that its subsidiary, Maldive Gas, has received a new shipment of gas, resolving the recent shortage and resuming the sale of 10kg gas cylinders.
Due to the war initiated in the Middle East following the attacks led by the United States and Israel against Iran, the prices of fuel and gas have risen, making these items difficult to obtain. As the demand for gas increased during this period, the sale of gas also had to be limited.
However, a new shipment of gas was brought to the Maldives last Friday.
Due to the significant rise in gas demand, 5kg cylinders were being sold instead of 10kg cylinders since the beginning of this month.
Last month, STO also sold 7kg gas cylinders at discounted rates instead of 10kg cylinders. However, coinciding with the last Ramadan, a new shipment was brought in and the sale of 10kg gas cylinders resumed as they were sold previously.
While the prices of fuel and gas have risen due to the Middle East war, the price at which STO sells fuel has also been increased. However, the government has stated that the price can be managed without further increases.
The government also noted that work is underway to bring in additional shipments of fuel.
