The government has arranged for Aasandha services to be available to Maldivians from an additional hospital in Sri Lanka.
Kings Hospital, located in Colombo, stated that it began providing treatment to patients under Aasandha starting last month.
While Aasandha services have commenced at this additional hospital in the country, services at Lanka Hospital were recently suspended.
Aminath Zeeniya, the Managing Director of Aasandha Company, told "Mihaaru" at the time that in previous instances, agreements with the hospital in Colombo were renewed before they expired.
However, she stated that the agreement was not renewed this time because the two parties could not reach an agreement on the terms proposed by each side.
When Aasandha was suspended at the hospital where many Maldivians living in Sri Lanka seek treatment, many people utilizing the service expressed their dissatisfaction.
Aasandha has signed agreements with 63 foreign hospitals to send Maldivians for treatment. This includes nine hospitals in Sri Lanka.
