MTCC has instructed owners to remove vehicles parked in the section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu which is to be closed off before 9am tomorrow. Non-compliance would result in police towing the vehicles, the company warned.

MTCC announced that work will commence today on Segments 2 to 5 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project.

Preparations are now underway for sheetpiling, the company said, due to which the stretch of the road from Henveiru Terminal to Fishermen's Park will be closed off today.

The area of the road from the Henveiru Terminal to Izzudeen Jetty will be shut from tomorrow onwards, MTCC said, after which they will be erecting fences.

A period of 24 hours from today until 9am tomorrow has been provided to remove vehicles parked in the area, the company announced, warning that non-compliance would lead to the vehicles being towed in coordination with the police.

MTCC thanked the public for cooperation extended as the work proceeds.

Police, meanwhile, have announced adjustments to the traffic flow during the construction period.

As per a chart publicized by the Police last night, the stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Chandhanee Magu will be closed from midnight onwards. Adjoining lanes allowing access to this stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will also be closed.

As a result, the road beside Barcelos Nasandhura will see a change in direction, now allowing vehicles to exit from Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

Police said that work is set to commence tomorrow from Segment 2 to 5 on the redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, hence traffic flow changes will be in effect from 12am tonight onwards.

Police also instructed that vehicles parked in this area of Boduthakurufaanu Magu must be removed before road closure. They apologized for any inconveniences this may cause, and thanked the public for their continued cooperation.

Male' City Council has also earlier announced that the lagoon in the area will be closed for vessel docking.

Atoll ferry services at Henveiru Terminal have also been temporarily transferred to the Maafannu Ferry Terminal and Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal.

MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhy previously said that as per the current schedule, work on the entire Boduthakurufaanu Magu is expected to reach completion within April or May.
