The man who was critically injured in yesterday's accident in Hithadhoo, Addu, has been transferred to capital Male' for further treatment.
An Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital media official told Mihaaru News that the man was transferred to the hospital this morning.
According to the hospital, the 42-year old man's condition is critical, and he remains on ventilator support.
At the time of the accident, there were three passengers in the car along with the driver. While the driver sustained life-threatening injuries, the three passengers also suffered varying levels of injuries, according to Police.
All four were initially treated at the Addu Equatorial Hospital.
Video footage circulating on social media shows that the car involved was heavily damaged in the accident. As seen in the footage, the car bore a taxi license plate.
