As preparations are underway to begin the third phase of the project to modernize Boduthakurufaanu Magu, MTCC has decided to relocate atoll ferry services that dock at the Henveiru Terminal to the Maafannu Ferry Terminal (Villingili Ferry Terminal) and the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal.

The company stated today that this change will take effect starting next Monday. Therefore, atoll ferries departing from the Henveiru Terminal will arrive and depart from the Maafannu Ferry Terminal and the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal from that day forward.

Additional information regarding this change can be obtained by contacting the MTCC hotline at 1650, they said.

Under the third phase of the project to modernize Boduthakurufaanu Magu, it has been decided to close the lagoon in the area to widen the road from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.

The government has scheduled the commencement of this work for next Saturday.

According to an announcement made by the Malé City Council this week, the area from the Henveiru Terminal to Fishermen's Park will be closed first. The City Council's announcement stated that the area will be closed starting next Saturday until the work is completed.

After completing work in that area, work will then begin from Fishermen's Park to Jetty Number Five. The City Council said that the area will be closed from the 30th of March until the work is finished.

According to the council, work on the area from Jetty Number Five to the Izzudheen Jetty will begin on April 17.

The council has instructed that no vessels should stop or remain permanently moored at the inner or outer sea walls of the area starting from last Monday until the widening of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is completed and the area is opened to the public.

The Managing Director of MTCC, Ahmed Saudi, previously stated that the development of the road from the Official Jetty to the MTCC Ferry Terminal in Henveiru would begin toward the end of this Ramadan. He stated at the time that, according to the current schedule, the work on the entire road would be fully completed next month or in May.

Under the project to asphalt and modernize Boduthakurufaanu Magu, the current government has already laid asphalt from the North Harbor to Jumhooree Maidhaan, and it is now in use. The widening of the road has significantly resolved congestion in that area.

MVR 144 million is being spent from the state budget for the outer road construction project. It is a project that must be completed within 455 days.
