The government is developing a park at the site of the old Ghazi Building. 

The plot on Ameer Ahmed Magu, adjacent to the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building has been used as a parking lot so far since the old Ghazi Building was demolished. 

A senior official of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure said today that the project to develop a park at the site has been handed over to Road Development Corporation (RDC). They said that a pleasant park, much like the Republic Square, would be developed here. 

The area has now been cleared of vehicles and fenced off with corrugated metal sheets. 

The Ghazi Building was demolished in 2023 after it had become dilapidated over several decades of use. 

The nearby Huravee Building had also been demolished in the same year due to its similar state of disrepair. This site, behind the President's Office, has now been developed as a parking lot. 

The government offices which previously ran out of Ghazi Building and Huravee Building were transferred to Velanage office complex in Male' and Umar Zahir Building in Hulhumale'.
