The lagoon from the Presidential Jetty up until the Henveiru Ferry Terminal is to be closed as the third phase of the project to modernize Male's Boduthakurufaanu Magu begins.

An announcement from Male' City Council states that the development of that stretch of road is set to begin on Saturday.

As per the council, the area from the terminal up until the Fishermen's Park (Masveringe Park) will be the first to be closed off. The city council stated that it will be closed from Saturday onward, until the work finishes.

The city council went on to say that once work on that area is done, work will begin at the area from the Fishermen's Park until Jetty Number 5, with the area to be closed off from 30th March until the work is completed.

The council said that work from Jetty Number 5 until Izzudheen Jetty will begin on 17th April.

The council has advised that no vessel be docked nor moored within the breakwaters of the area until the road widening work comes to an end and is opened to the public.

MTCC's Managing Director Ahmed Saeed has said previously that work to develop the road from the Presidential Jetty up until MTCC's ferry terminal will begin by the end of Ramadan.

According to him, their schedule states that the work on the entire road will finish in the coming month or in May.

Asphalt has been laid on the section of the road from the North Harbor up until the Republic Square.. Congestion in the area has decreased due to the expansion of the road.

MVR 144 million will be spent via the state budget for the road development project and is set to be completed within 455 days.
