A cruise ship carrying more than 1,300 passengers and crew has arrived in Male' after making a stop in Haa Dhaalu Uligan.
Immigration authorities said the cruise ship Vasco da Gama, which departed from Colombo, Sri Lanka, docked in Uligan early Friday where the necessary entry permits were issued.
A total of 1,348 people, including passengers and crew members, arrived in the Maldives on the vessel.
Operated by a German company, the ship has the capacity to carry 1,000 passengers and 550 crew members.
Uligan, located at the northernmost tip of the Maldives, serves as an important port of entry for yachts and vessels travelling between the Red Sea and Europe from destinations such as Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia and Thailand.
After spending a day in Uligan, the cruise ship continued its journey and has now arrived in Male'.
The vessel began its voyage from Bali, Indonesia, on the 27th of last month, stopping in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka before reaching the Maldives.
From Male', the ship is scheduled to sail onward to Oman, with the voyage expected to conclude in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.
