A man has been arrested with a large quantity of suspected drugs during a police operation in Laamu atoll Maavah.
Police identified the suspect as Mohamed Ibrahim, 43, of Beysge, Maavah.
According to police, the arrest was made as part of a special effort to eradicate drugs from the island and make Maavah drug free.
Officers found 63 rubber packets containing suspected drugs in his possession during an operation carried out on Tuesday night.
Police said the suspect has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
