President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated today that he will not have support for any independent candidate appearing in the Local Council Elections to be held on the fourth of April, and that his support is only for PNC candidates.

Speaking in his capacity as the President of PNC, President Muizzu made these remarks during a door-to-door campaign activity held in Hulhumalé today for Ubaidullah, who is contesting for the Hulhumalé South constituency on the party's ticket.

The President stated that the candidates he supports "will be on the PNC ticket."

However, he mentioned he was aware of talk claiming that MDP candidate Ahmed Ghalib of the Hulhumalé South constituency has President Muizzu’s support.

"That is a categorical lie. My support will be for the PNC candidate alone. Whether it is an independent person, a person on the MDP ticket, or a person from any other party, they will not have my support," the President said.

President Muizzu stated that he is someone who believes in the political party system. Therefore, he said he wants progress for the PNC. "I want to vote for the bird. It has been very much noticed in this constituency that the opposition party candidate is speaking in such a manner," he said.

The President has been conducting door-to-door visits in Malé almost every day for the campaign of PNC candidates in the Local Elections to be held next month.
