The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) stated last night that Maldivian food making company Bilaiymaa Tasty has been selling products that do not fall in line with their Food Safety Policy.

Bilaiymaa Tasty is known for making and packaging Maldivian snacks such as theluli faiy (fried moringa leaves), koshi mas (dried fish), kulhi kaajaa (spicy fried dough) and rihaakuru (fish paste).

As per the statement released by the MFDA, they had acted on a complaint they had received, with them conducting an inspection into Bilaiymaa Tasty and that they do not act in accordance with the Food Safety Policy, along with their general cleanliness also not being upto standard.

The MFDA has told Bilaiymaa Tasty to cease all operations immediately.

The MFDA stated that places that offer such services are required to register with them under the Food Safety Act, but Bilaiymaa Tasty has not been registered with them at all.

"And so, as a safety measure, we request that the sale and use of food products from the company that has been mentioned (Bilaiymaa Tasty) be ceased."

The issue of food being prepared in an unclean unhygienic and being sold has risen as of late. Some guidelines have been made stricter due to such issues.
