MDP releases their Male' manifesto

The manifesto, titled "Trustworthy Service, the Pulse of Male' City", was released at a ceremony held at Artificial Beach. It was designed to find quick and sustainable solutions for the issues faced by citizens of Male and to build a life of joy and prosperity, as was stated by MDP.

Opposition MDP released their Male' manifesto last night ahead of the Local Council Election.

The manifesto, titled "Trustworthy Service, the Pulse of Male' City", was released at a ceremony held at Artificial Beach. It was designed to find quick and sustainable solutions for the issues faced by citizens of Male' and to build a life of joy and prosperity, as was stated by MDP.

The manifesto has three sections, which are prosperous living, facilitating business and empowering the people.

After the manifesto was launched, MDP said that it is their aim to establish the resources necessary to expedite the handover of plots that have been given in Hulhumale', Gulhi Falhu, Giraavaru Falhu and Uthuru Thila Falhu under their pillar of prosperous living.

The manifesto includes the establishment of a revolving fund, meant to build houses within a sustainable financial system in order to ascertain the legal rights of those who received plots and flats from the Boahiyaavahikan schemes. The manifesto also has plans to begin the demolition and development of the Sinamale' Flats, and to expand the council's scope of influence regarding national decisions behind housing so that easier paths can be found in removing dilapidated buildings in Male'.

The manifesto includes the development and modernizing of Male's roads and the introduction of multipurpose parking and the ability to park nearby houses to solve parking issues. Along with that, the expansion of Male's outer road and making the smaller narrow roads more comfortable is also written in the manifesto.

While the manifesto reads that modern bus stops and traffic lights will be installed, including the determination and enforcement of vehicle limits in order to strengthen Male's transport system, the creation of a community police and traffic management unit is also included in the manifesto.

The manifesto continues, with the use of affordable vehicles that can drive through narrow roads in regards to improving the waste management system, raising public awareness regarding the issue of waste and the creation of a market for used goods. The cat shelter being handed over to the city council is also in the manifesto.

Conducting Quran classes in mosques, increasing huffaz, reviving cultural experiences and a system to host newly-wed parties free of charge is also included in MDP's Male' manifesto.

Arrangements will be made for a system to digitally check the prices of products after Male' fish market and local market is developed as per the manifesto. It also includes the development of Villimale' in such a way that it allows the sale of locally produced goods and products at the local market area so as to expand local tourism in VIllimale'.

Under the environmental route, a program to grow vegetables and fruits within households will be implemented, along with the installation of solar panels and a coral planting program. 

To empower citizens, arrangements will be made where a system that has the information of councils and plots being available digitally, and holding discussions with citizens in allocating the budget. Work to make the city that has a lower crime rate and the expansion of the role of Women's Development Committee members in the operation of the city council is included in the manifesto as well.
