Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that arrangements have been made for 164 people, who were unable to depart for the Umrah pilgrimage during the last 10 days of this Ramadan due to various reasons, to fly tonight.

Following the heavy attacks initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran, the ongoing war in the Middle East has disrupted the region's air travel system. As this includes destinations that operate the most flights to the Maldives, the travel of those going for Umrah has also been affected.

According to the Islamic Minister, the 164 people who have been unable to depart for Umrah so far are being flown tonight via a Maldivian airline aircraft chartered by the Hajj Corporation.

Shaheem further stated that arrangements for their stay in Mecca have also been settled.

"I would like to thank the Hajj Corporation and Maldivian on this occasion. And I sincerely thank President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for the importance he gave to resolving this matter," the Minister said.

As Minister Shaheem previously noted, these individuals remained unable to depart because, although they intended to travel via transit through certain countries, the flights from those countries were cancelled.
