President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that the current government has made the most efforts in the development of women, along with the development of the Women's Development Committee.

At the launch event for PNC's "The Greater Addu" campaign at the Artificial Beach in preparation for the upcoming Local Council Election on 4th April, President Muizzu extended his wishes in celebration of International Women's Day.

The President also said that the results will show the current government is one that works towards the development of women.

President Muizzu went on to say that the work that has been done regarding the growth of committees for women's development until today has been from the current government. This includes changes to the law and Ramadan benefits for members of women's committees, said President Muizzu.

"All of the work that has been done until today, regarding the development of committees working in the name of developing women, has been done by this government," said the President.

According to President Muizzu, the President of the Women's Development Committee (WDC) is an elected position that has been changed to a full-time executive role, with this change being brought about by this government as well. He also said that the five percent that was being given to the committee has been increased to ten percent.

The President stated that the Ramadan benefits are not to be given from that ten percent, but from the council's budget.

And so, the President said that this government has made the committees into actual committees.

"The current government increased the five percent to ten percent for the WDC. This government was also the one to state that the Ramadan benefits are not to be given from that ten percent, but from the council's budget. And so, this government is the one that turned the WDC into an actual committee."

President Muizzu went on to say that they are working on not just the committees but for the development of women as well, with him highlighting the empowerment of women economically and in other ways with the issuance of loans.
