Leading MDP members in Addu switch to PNC

Some leading members of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Addu have last night signed to join ruling People's National Congress (PNC).

Some leading members of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Addu have last night signed to join ruling People's National Congress (PNC). 

Their party membership forms were accepted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, leader of PNC, at last night's "The Greater Addu" campaign event held at the Artificial Beach in Male'. 

MDP members who defected to PNC include:

  1. Former MDP party president to Addu Ahmed Adhuham
  2. Former MDP party president of Feydhoo Abdulla Saeed
  3. Former MDP party vice-president of Feydhoo Mohamed Saeed (Dhagey)
  4. WDC member Hawwa Zahira
  5. Leading MPD activist in Sri Lanka Fathimath Shiyama
  6. Former MDP councilor of Feydhoo Ahmed Rifhaan

Last night's campaign event also featured more members joining the ruling party. 

Also announced at last night's event was the inclusion in the The Greater Addu manifesto the development of a national institute in Addu to promote innovative ideas.

Speaking to the hundreds attending last night's event, President Muizzu appealed to the public to elect PNC candidates in the upcoming Local Council and WDC elections. He said that the party hopes that candidates who will cooperate with, and not obstruct the government's development plans are elected.
