The regulation for awarding plots via two new programs under the government's Boahiyaavahikan project has been publicized.
The two programs were posted in the Gazette, named the "Binveriya" scheme and "Goathi-Gedhoru" program, meant to offer plots to Male' residents.
The new programs were mentioned during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's 2026 Presidential Address.
If a spouse has housing in the Male' region, they would not be able to apply for the flat and plot programs that were introduced by the government in January. Subsequently, the President announced that another program where a person can apply for a scheme regardless of their spouse having housing under either individual's name will be introduced soon.
Such individuals can now apply for plots under the "Goathi-Gedhoru" program's regulation.
The "Binveriya" scheme is meant to offer plots to those who agree to give up the plot they had received via the joint application scheme. The regulation also reads that those who were unable to apply to the scheme due to them having received flats from previous schemes can do so under the new program.
President Muizzu has stated that 1,000 plots will be given away via each program.
