An additional opportunity has been granted to become monitors and observers in the election to be held next month.

The Elections Commission (EC) stated that forms to become monitors and observers for the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, as well as the public referendum, can be submitted until 3:00 PM tomorrow afternoon.

The opportunity to apply was initially opened on the ninth of last month. That period was granted until last Saturday.

However, an additional period was given to provide the opportunity to more people. Those wishing to become monitors in this election must submit their forms to the EC through a designated data liaison for newspapers, magazines, and news agencies via the commission's main portal, my.elections.gov.mv.

In this regard, the EC stated that the "Form to request to become a data liaison for submitting monitor information" must be completed and emailed to [email protected].

The commission said that monitor passes for registered newspapers, magazines, and news agencies will be issued to each outlet in a manner not exceeding one person for each voting and counting area.

Furthermore, it stated that only one monitor can operate at a time in any capacity at the polling station.

For political parties and associations observing the voting and counting, passes will be issued in a manner not exceeding 10 percent more than the number of ballot boxes placed for voting in the election for each political party and association.

Additionally, only one observer from each entity can operate at a time at the polling station.
