Along with the revision of the eligibility criteria for applicants to the special categories included in the "Ailee Boahiyavahikan" program, the number of flats designated for each category has been publicized.

Following the latest amendments to the flat allocation policy, the special category now includes 1,000 flats.

The Ministry of Housing today publicized the revised additional requirements that applicants must fulfill, in addition to the criteria stated in the policy, for the agencies and institutions listed under the special priority categories for housing provision under Article 15 of the Malé housing allocation policy.

The announcement also included the specific number of flats to be issued to each category.

Flat distribution numbers:

  • Judiciary employees – 100 flats
  • Police – 100 flats
  • MNDF – 100 flats
  • Civil Service employees – 200 flats
  • Corrections Service – 100 flats

According to the Ministry, individuals are eligible for these flats if they have established a family in Malé and have been working full-time without interruption in any of the above five agencies for one year.

However, they must agree to continue their employment as determined by the agency starting from the date the housing is handed over.

In addition to these entities, 400 flats have been designated for individuals working in 24 other agencies. The basic requirements for these categories are also having a family established in Malé, having worked at the agency for one year, and agreeing to work as determined by the agency upon the handover of the housing.

The institutions for which the additional 400 flats are designated:

  • President’s Office (including employees of Mulee'aage and Hilaaleege)
  • Parliament Secretariat
  • Attorney General’s Office
  • Foreign Service
  • Judicial Service Commission

  • Family Protection Authority
  • National Disaster Management
  • Office of the Children’s Ombudsperson

The Ministry stated that the recipients for the flats allocated to each agency will be determined from among the eligible applicants according to a policy set by that specific agency.

Under this program, a total of 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots of 1,250 square feet will be issued. Only native residents of Malé and those who have lived in Malé for 15 years are eligible to apply for both programs.

The deadline for submitting application forms for land plots and flats will expire on April 30.
