President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated yesterday that he is communicating with Middle Eastern leaders to state that they have Maldives' support amidst the ongoing attacks in the region.
At the press conference that was held at the President's Office yesterday, the President said that he is currently calling the leaders of Arab Islamic nations and expressing that they have the support of Maldives.
He also stated that he had spoken with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last night, with phone calls having been arranged with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
"The attacks by Iran have caused a great deal of damage and loss of life, and I have stated that Maldivian citizens stand strongly with them," said President Muizzu.
In response to the attacks from the United States of America (USA) and Israel, Iran is firing off waves of missiles intended for US military bases in neighboring Arab countries.
Iran's attacks have caused damage to the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. A significant area of the air spaces of the aforementioned nations have been closed off.
As per the UAE, Iran has fired more than 130 missiles and more than 200 drone strikes yesterday alone. The attacks have hit some Dubai hotels, with the international airport having been damaged as well. Qatar has stated that 65 missiles and 12 drone strikes from Iran have hit their nation.
The attacks from the USA have claimed the lives of more than 200 Iranians, which includes their supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 48 high ranking officials having been slain as well.
