President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has presented certificates to 31 huffaz who memorized the Quran.
Last night's graduation ceremony marked the highest number of huffaz to graduate at the same time. The ceremony was held at the Islamic Center, where 19 men and 12 women had graduated.
Of the huffaz who were presented medals by President Muizzu, they are the ones who memorized the Quran from Ramadan last year until the ongoing month of Ramadan, with them reciting the Quran to the Hifz Examination Committee as per the requirements that were set by the National Center for the Holy Quran.
The Presidential Medal was also presented to a number of huffaz.
Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated that this year's graduation marks the highest number of huffaz to graduate in one go.
The minister also stated that there are 301 huffaz in Maldives currently, with 139 being women and 162 being men.
He also stated that an additional 1,800 students are currently memorizing the Quran through the National Center for the Holy Quran and other institutes.
