Monitor application deadline for council election tomorrow

The Elections Commission (EC) has said that the application deadline to become a monitor for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections is tomorrow.

The application window for interested parties to become a monitor, a role where individuals can monitor and observe the polling and counting of the votes during the election being held on 4th April, was opened on 9th February.

The EC stated today that the deadline for the application window is tomorrow at 3:30pm.

To become a monitor, one must submit a form to the EC's portal (my.elections.mv) through a data liaison designated to newspapers, magazines, and news organizations.

The EC requested forms to submit forms for becoming data liaisons via email to [email protected].

The requirements in becoming a monitor for the election are:

  • To be a Maldivian who is 18 years of age
  • To not be an individual serving a sentence for a criminal offense
  • To be an employee at a relevant institution that is a registered radio/television station
  • Not to be an individual who is responsible for any sort of work pertaining to the election that has been handed down by the EC
  • To not be an individual who has applied for any other election post
