More than 190 vote centers in the Male' region

The Male' region is set to have more than 190 vote centers for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections.

The Male' region is set to have more than 190 vote centers for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections.

The Elections Commission (EC) made announcements yesterday that they are looking for a contractor to prepare the vote centers.

As per the announcements, 193 centers will be established. These would be:

  • 132 centers in Male'
  • 34 centers in Hulhumale' Phase 1
  • 18 centers in Hulhumale' Phase 2
  • 9 centers in Villimale'

The EC has decided to put up tents in three locations in Male' to establish the vote centers. They will be put up at Maafannu stadium's volleyball court, Male' City Council's hall at Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Henveiru stadium.

There are 1,592 candidates for the Local Council Election, with 1,368 candidates for the Women's Development Committee Election. There are 294,937 people who are eligible to vote in the upcoming election.

678 candidates will be elected in both the Local Council Election and the Women's Development Committee Election each. A total of 1,356 candidates will be elected from both elections.

The referendum vote to combine the Presidential and the Parliamentary elections will be held alongside the Local Council and WDC elections on 4th April.
