This marks the first time the DPE has facilitated private candidates to sit the May/June A-level examinations in Maldives.
Following changes introduced in 2020, many students seeking to sit the May/June session had travelled to Sri Lanka to take the examinations privately.
DPE announced earlier this month that the examinations would now be held locally. The decision followed a petition submitted to the Ministry of Education by students, who raised concerns about the high cost of travelling to Sri Lanka and the financial burden on families.
