A dangerous accident on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, near the Sinamale' Bridge, late last night has led to the death of a 16 year old boy.
Police said that the accident occurred when a speeding motorcycle lost control and swerved on to the pavement near the traffic lights at the approach to the bridge on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The accident occurred at around 1:30am today.
The boy who died had been the passenger on the motorcycle, which was being driven by a 19 year old boy who did not have a driving license, according to Police.
Both the driver and the passenger were Maldivians. The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment following the accident. The 16 year old did not survive his injuries.
Police are investigating the accident.
