The Maldives is on the right track in terms of religion, as well as economic and social matters, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said last night. He urged voters to support the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) in the upcoming elections to maintain this direction.
Shaheem made these remarks at the event held last night to inaugurate the Male' campaign hub of PNC's GDh. Thinadhoo candidates.
In his speech, he asserted that under the leadership of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Maldives is progressing in the right direction.
To ensure its continuity, it is important to vote for government candidates or those who support the government's vision, he said.
He noted that these votes would be key to maintaining cohesion within the administration.
Shaheem pointed out that the development that Thinadhoo has seen to date has come through PNC's ideology. As examples, he mentioned Thinadhoo's harbour, reclaimed area and the Islamic Centre. Further, the impact of housing projects undertaken when President Muizzu earlier served as Housing Minister can also be seen in Thinadhoo, he said.
Shaheem described PNC's Thinadhoo mayoral candidate Mohamed Ajeeb as 'a jewel' that the city could choose. If PNC members work well, Ajeeb will be the candidate to be elected with the highest number of votes, Shaheem declared.
Shaheem also commended the other candidates contesting on PNC tickets in the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections. He stated that they are all highly qualified and competent individuals. Sincere efforts by PNC members will guarantee a win for these candidates, he asserted.
