A search has begun for popular TikTok user Booga (Ahmed Amir) over disrespecting the Islamic faith.
As per an announcement from the police, a search for 51 year old Amir, H. Filikurige, is being conducted because he had disrespected the Islamic faith on various social media platforms, speaking in a manner that would obstruct the religious solidarity of Maldivians and calling to dissolve the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
The police also said that they were searching for him after a lack of a response when they had sent a summons for an investigation, with the lack being attributed to the police not knowing Amir's place of residence.
The police announced that Amir is to present himself to the Sergeant Adam Haleem Criminal Investigation Building on 10th March at 4:00pm.
As per information from TikTok, he is currently married to a foreigner and living with his wife in her country, with him periodically coming back to Maldives.
Amir continued to mock Islam on TikTok and spoke about the faith. He has previously spoken about the circumcision of Muslim men not being a necessity.
