High Court Judge Hassan Shafeeu has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Judge Shafeeu was elected as a JSC member out of the High Court judges after the retirement of Judge Mohamed Niyaz, who previously filled the position.
Shafeeu took oath of office in a ceremony held at the President's Office today. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Mohamed Saleem.
His letter of appointment was then presented by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Judge Shafeeu has previously served as a judge in both the Family Court and the Civil Court.
