After significant renovation, the Republic Square in capital Male' City has been temporarily reopened for public use.
Road Development Corporation (RDC) announced in a post on X that as a large part of the renovation project contracted to them has now been completed, the Republic Square has been temporarily opened to the public.
RDC has planted several trees at the Republic Square, and redesigned and repaired the seating areas.
Republic Square was first closed for renovations early last year.
It was then reopened for the 60th Independence Day celebrations on July 26 last year. However, it was closed off again soon after as the work had not yet been completed.

The government is also renovating Boduthakurufaanu Magu on the north side of Male'. MTCC has now renovated and reopened the stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the Presidential Jetty to the North Harbour.
The third phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu renovation project is due to start in March.
