A foreigner has been arrested for kidnapping an individual. 

Police said that they received reports of a person being illegally held at a location at around 1:25am on Friday. Police entered the location by force and rescued the individual at around 2:30am the same night. 

There were no visible injuries on the individual, according to Police. 

In relation to the case, Police arrested Iqbal Mia, 35, a Bangladeshi national. 

The court has placed Iqbal Mia in remand in custody for 30 days. 

Iqbal is reportedly living in Maldives without necessary documentation and permits. 

As the case is under investigation, Police did not reveal any further details.
