Police announced that from Monday, vehicles parked illegally or registered to zones outside Male' but left on its streets will be towed.
Police have instructed vehicle owners to remove such vehicles before 11:30pm on Sunday to avoid towing.
Police stated that they would not bear responsibility for any damage or loss caused during towing after the set deadline.
Once towed, the vehicle owners are responsible for arranging transfer of the vehicles back from the location to which it has been towed, Police said.
Despite periodic towing by Police, the issue remains unresolved. Unused cars left for long periods on Male' streets obstruct motorists and pedestrians alike.
