Barbaree Mosque renovated and reopened

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the upgraded mosque can now accommodate up to 1,400 worshippers.

Masjid Yoosuf Barbaree, located at the junction of Majeedhee Magu and Rahdhebai Magu, was reopened today following renovations carried out to modern standards.

The mosque was inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during Asr prayers.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the upgraded mosque can now accommodate up to 1,400 worshippers.

The ministry said the renovation was undertaken with the assistance of Alisaaf Company, which was awarded the project in December 2024.

Following the inauguration, President Muizzu toured the premises. Youth Khatib Al-Hafiz Abdulla bin Imjad led the Asr prayer at the reopening.

The refurbishment of Masjid Yoosuf Barbaree forms part of the President’s broader initiative to modernise older mosques in Male'.
