STO has announced that a new shipment of cooking gas has arrived in Maldives, and will be available for sale from today onwards.
With supply shortages in the global regional market, STO subsidiary Maldive Gas has been selling 7kg cooking gas cylinders at discounted rates instead of 10kg cylinders over recent days.
An STO official confirmed today that the new stock has arrived now. With this, gas sales will return to normal, with 10kg cylinders now available for purchase. they said.
Each year, the demand for cooking gas increases during Ramadan.
"There will be no gas shortage during this upcoming Ramadan. From today onwards, 10kg cylinders will be available once again," the official assured.
Asia has been facing LPG shortages over recent months for various reasons. The issue arose in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh as well.
