The employment duration for disabled people who hold Civil Service positions has been increased.

As per an announcement by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) last Sunday, under the "assurance of employment by the government for people with disabilities who want to be employed" program as per President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledge, the three-month employment contracts of people with disabilities who have been employed at Civil Service positions are coming to an end.

The announcement states that after their work and their capabilities have been assessed, their contracts are to be increased to one year.

CSC's Secretary General Abdulla Saeed told Mihaaru News that the program arranges employment for people with disabilities from government companies as well.

Saeed said that 100 to 300 people with disabilities were given employment from the Civil Service industry. However, it is unclear as to how many individuals will be given the one-year extension on their employment contracts.

"Their contract will be extended to one year after assessing if they are a fit for the work environment. They will also be assessed on the quality of their work within that time frame before they are given a permanent position," said Saeed.
