Police have revealed that Ali Aflah, arrested for child sexual abuse, is accused of having sexually abused a minor over a period of two years.
According to Police, the child had been subject to sexual abuse from age 14 to 16. Aflah has been arrested for child sexual abuse while in a position of trust.
27-year old Aflah, the former CEO on Bright Minds - an online tuition service for secondary grades - has been placed in remand in custody for 30 days.
Reportedly, he had fled the country and had stayed an extented period of time abroad, and was arrested on his return to Maldives on a flight from Mumbai, India.
Aflah's shares in Bright Minds Education Pvt Ltd was transferred to his brother and sister-in-law in September last year.
