Two election candidacy cases to be heard at Supreme Court

The election complaints were submitted to the Supreme Court by Abdul Majeed who is an independent candidate for the position of President of K. Guraidhoo Council and Fathimath Suzan who is an independent candidate for the K. Thulusdhoo Council.

The Supreme Court has tabled the sentencing of two cases for tomorrow concerning a decision from the Elections Commission (EC) regarding the candidacy of two candidates for the Local Council Election.

The election complaints were submitted to the Supreme Court by Abdul Majeed who is an independent candidate for the position of President of K. Guraidhoo Council and Fathimath Suzan who is an independent candidate for the K. Thulusdhoo Council.

EC decided to not accept the candidacies of the two candidates.

With these two cases in court, the candidate numbering of both islands will not move forward. The numbering of candidates of all other islands have already been done.

Such an election issue is something the Supreme Court will table to come to an early decision.

Supreme Court has scheduled judgement for Majeed's case at 10:30 am tomorrow. The judges bench includes Judge Hussain Shaheed, Judge Aisha Shujoon Mohamed and Judge Mohamed Saleem.

The Supreme Court has scheduled jusgement for Suzan's case at 11:30am tomorrow. The judges bench includes Judge Abdulla Hameed, Judge Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim and Judge Ali Rasheed Hussain.
