Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) set a historic record yesterday by flying more than 7,000 passengers in the space of 24 hours.
TMA is the largest seaplane operator in Maldives and in the world, with them posting on social media stating they achieved their biggest operational record in the history of the company.
The airline said that they served more than 7,000 passengers in one day with more than 800 flights (take-off and landing) having been completed.
TMA stated that this is the highest number of operations they had conducted in the history of the company.

TMA also stated that this showcases their ability in conducting operational preparations and continuous flights.
TMA went on to say that this is the result of the hard work of the employees and the close relationship they have between each other. TMA continued by saying that this is a symbol of how complete the company's operational arrangements are during tourism's peak season.
TMA thanked their employees in the social media post.
As per Maldives' tourism records, yesterday saw the highest number of tourists enter Maldives within one day. The record was established when 11,136 tourists entered the country yesterday. Yesterday was also the busiest day in Velana International Airport's history.
