Police have disclosed the identities of two individuals involved in the smuggling of hash oil worth MVR 29 million via sea.

The drugs were uncovered when Customs seized an overseas shipment at Male' Commercial Harbour last Thursday, after suspicions arose during inspection.

The total weight of the seized hash oil is reported to be 36.43kg, with a street value of MVR 29 million.

The two arrested in relation to this case on allegations of drug trafficking are Hassan Mafaaz, 26, of Madhaaruge, M. Mulah, and Visham Mohamed, 35, of H. Filmy Sight.

Police said that the two were arrested in an operation conducted in relation to Customs handing over the seized 36kg of drugs to Police.

The court has placed both in remand in custody for 15 days, Police said.

Photos publicized by Customs shows that the drugs were packed in rubber packets.
