A Nepalese man has been arrested for fraudulently obtaining money claiming that he is selling a wardrobe on Facebook Marketplace.
The man, arrested on February 7, is Nakul K C, 23.
The Criminal Court has placed him in remand in custody for 12 days, Police said.
Police are also investigating other related allegations against the man.
Scams across social media platforms have become common in recent years.
Last month, Police cautioned the public about a social media account named 'Rayaa Male'' which was scamming people through a fake clearance sale claim.
Another related incident involved a page called 'Dheenuge Magugai' which tricked the public into handing over money by posing as a fundraiser for medical treatment.
