Bright Minds CEO arrested for child sexual abuse

Reports indicate that Aflah is accused of grooming and sexually abusing a student over a long period of time.

Chief Executive Officer of Bright Minds - an online tuition centre for secondary grades - has been arrested on allegations of sexually abusing a minor. 

Police stated that an individual was arrested last Wednesday in relation to a case of child sexual abuse that is under investigation. 

Police did not disclose the identity of the person arrested, but said that it is a 27 year old Maldivian man. 

However, Mihaaru News reports that they have verified the man's identity as Ali Aflah of Haithar, Hulhumale'. 

Police said that the Criminal Court has placed the man in remand in custody for 30 days. 

Aflah, CEO and a teacher at Bright Minds, is accused of sexually abusing a student. Reportedly, he had fled the country and had stayed an extensive period of time abroad, and was arrested on his return to Maldives on a flight from Mumbai, India. 

Reports indicate that Aflah is accused of grooming and sexually abusing a student over a long period of time. The victim has provided a statement to Police. 

Aflah's shares in Bright Minds Education Pvt Ltd was transferred to his brother and his wife in September last year.
