Posters of all candidates contesting for Addu constituencies on the PNC ticket for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections have been vandalized.

Mohamed Sinan, Hithadhoo North MP and a key figure in the ruling party's campaign in Addu, stated yesterday that the posters of 22 PNC candidates in Addu were slashed with cutters.

"Those were posters we prepared to be put up in the area as you cross the bridge and head down into Maradhoo. Since today is Friday, we had put up some posters and kept the others ready to be installed today. That is when the damage was done," Sinan said.

According to him, the matter has now been reported to the Addu police.

Sinan further noted that damaging property of one another while engaging in political activities is a step backward.

"This is not an era where you win elections by throwing black oil or vandalizing posters. Campaigns should be conducted with more maturity than that. I do not know which group did this or what objective they intended to achieve," he said.
