Former head of the Maldives Monetary Authority’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Ismail Sajid, has filed a complaint with the Employment Tribunal challenging his dismissal over a sexual harassment case.

Sajid lodged the case on 4 February.

He was dismissed on 29 January after the MMA’s sexual harassment committee concluded its investigation and found the allegation against him to be substantiated. The committee recommended his removal from the post.

Sajid had been suspended since 30 December last year pending the outcome of the inquiry.

In a post on social media, Sajid denied the allegation and claimed the committee’s investigation was conducted unlawfully.

He was appointed head of the FIU in August last year. Prior to that, he served as a member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal.
